Kennet & Avon Canal
The Kennet & Avon canal is one of the most picturesque ways to stroll through the city of Bath. You can join the path as part of a longer journey from nearby villages of Bathampton, Freshford or even Bradford on Avon, or you can simply join somewhere along Walcot, Sydney Gardens, Widcombe, the Bath Skyline walk, or from the point at which it merges with the River Avon near Bath Spa.
The canal is fronted by Bath's infamous Georgian terraced houses and businesses and is a popular place for canal boats to amble along through. Boating enthusiasts might be excited to learn that this section of the canal is home to Britain's second deepest lock, also known as Bath Deep Lock (numbers 8 and 9). History buffs may appreciate the Canal & River Trust's free guided audio tour.
