Moorfields Sandpits

Parks & Walks

Tucked away behind the Somerset and Dorset Joint Railway Path, you'd be forgiven for thinking Sandpits Park is just another run-of-the-mill children's playground; swings, see-saws, climbing frames, roundabouts, pirate ships, and sandpits for digging. But the real attraction here is the multi-level stream, shallow and safe enough for little ones to splash about in their wellies and waterproofs, with multiple bridges to cross over at varying levels of adventurous difficulty. It's also the perfect place to throw sticks and watch them float down stream.

And if that's not enough to keep your child entertained, then the giant slide built into the hill may keep them busy.

There are public toilets (bring your 20p) and picnic benches as well as a covered gazebo and plenty of shaded spots to sit. The park is fenced in and there is parking on the surrounding residential streets, or you can access by foot from the Two Tunnels Greenway path.
