Bath Abbey

Places to Visit

Founded in the 7th century, Bath Abbey is a historical parish church and a place of calm and worship right in the middle of Bath's bustling city centre. There is plenty to do and see in Bath Abbey, whether you’re visiting on a wet and windy weekday in February or on a sunny Saturday in June! To make the most of your visit, please take a few minutes to plan ahead.

Ideally we suggest you allow between 45 minutes and 1.5 hours for your visit but you can see most of the highlights in 20-30 minutes if you are pressed for time. We warmly invite you to join us for one of our many services or events – click here to view What’s On.

If you have a little more time, why not try one of our Tower Tours? It comes highly recommended by many of our visitors who consider it one of the highlights of their visit to Bath, and at just £8 per adult, it’s often described as ‘great value for money.’

Visiting

Pilgrims and visitors have been made welcome at Bath Abbey for hundreds of years. As one of the most visited places in the South West, we welcome hundreds of thousands of people through our doors each year, but are fully aware that every visitor comes with their own expectations, beliefs and purpose. Whether it’s to admire the wonderful architecture, to enjoy exceptional music in a beautiful setting or to join us in prayer, come and experience the Abbey’s rich history and special atmosphere for yourselves.

There is so much to see and learn about during your visit to Bath Abbey. We have many resources including leaflets and guide books available.
